Cravens takes over Joplin R-8 on temporary basis

Executive Director of Secondary Instruction Jason Cravens officially took over as acting superintendent of the Joplin R-8 School District Monday, as C. J. Huff's seven-year tenure came to an end.

In the accompanying KODE report, Cravens talks about what he will be doing in the weeks he is in charge pending the hiring of an interim superintendent.

Just happened to be reading our host's Silver Lining in a Funnel Cloud: Greed, Corruption, and the Joplin Tornado, and noted on page 165 that Jason Cravens just happened to be the other district employee who traveled to Germany with Angie Besendorfer because that company's US showroom was clearly too small. Their spouses "paid their own way", but it's pretty obvious to me they wouldn't have done this, with two extra vacation days, unless that company had paid for them, probably including all the lodging. Of course, that company got the contract, and I can see why it would go out of its way, with so much to replace at once it much have been a huge order.
