I find it remarkable that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) would select a superintendent whose schools' test scores have dropped for the last dozen years to promote its goal of becoming one of the top 10 states in education by the year 2020.

Is that top ten schools in southwest Missouri? Okay, so Diamond, Carl Junction, Webb City, Neosho, MacDonald County and Joplin. We might be able to be top 10 by 2020.
