Wind chill advisory issued for Joplin area through Thursday morning

BITTER WIND CHILLS EXPECTED TODAY INTO THURSDAY MORNING...

.ANOTHER SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR WILL PUSH INTO THE AREA AND REMAIN
IN PLACE THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. IN ADDITION...NORTH WINDS OF
15 TO 25 MPH WILL LOWER WIND CHILLS INTO THE -5 TO -14 RANGE
TODAY. WINDS WILL THEN DIMINISH FOR A TIME THIS EVENING BEFORE
INCREASING OUT OF THE SOUTH LATE TONIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING...
RESULTING IN WIND CHILLS IN THE -8 TO -16 RANGE.

* WIND CHILL VALUES...5 TO 16 BELOW ZERO WITH THE COLDEST READINGS
  OCCURRING ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF BITTER COLD TEMPERATURES AND BRISK
  WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT
  TAKEN. FROSTBITE CAN OCCUR IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS ON EXPOSED
  SKIN.
