Public session set for input into Joplin skatepark design

(From the City of Joplin)

Citizens are invited to join the American Ramp Company (ARC) for a design meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 26. The meeting will take place at ARC, 601 S. McKinley in Joplin. This is the first meeting planned of three public sessions.

During the meeting, the American Ramp Company, a locally operated skatepark design firm, will show various design options for layouts for the new skatepark. Citizens are encouraged to come to participate and provide feedback for options within the design the new park. Many enthusiastic members of the community brought this new park idea to the City, and City leaders now encourage the public to join in the progress to make it happen.

Joplin’s Skatepark will be built in the former ball field area of Ewert Park, located just north of 7th Street on School Avenue. Funding for this newest addition is provided through the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax, which voters renewed in the August 2011 election.

For more information about upcoming meetings, contact the American Ramp Company by calling (417) 206-6816 or email them at sales@americanrampcompany.com. The public can also view various designs by clicking on the link at the end of this article.
