Bolivar teen sentenced to 30 years for murdering 12-year-old sister

A Bolivar teen was sentenced to 30 years in prison today for the March 2012 murder of his 12-year-old sister.

From KOLR's coverage:

Levi S. Elliott, 17, of Bolivar, was found guilty in Oct. 2014 of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

According to court documents, Elliott’s 12-year-old sister, Sierra, was found with a gunshot wound to the head on the night of March 24, 2012 by her mother.

When emergency crews arrived, they found Sierra responsive for a short time. During that time, the girl told police her brother had shot her.

Elliott, who was 15 at the time, was found with his biological mother in Kansas City the next morning. Sierra died at a hospital in Springfield later that same evening.
