Agenda posted for Joplin R-8 December 4 work session

The Joplin R-8 Board of Education will hold a work session 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the administration building.

Among the items on the agenda are "engaging stakeholders," another buzz phrase for attempting to placate teachers who have been treated poorly for the past several years, both in pay and in terms of respect, by giving them $24 worth of beads and trinkets.

From the looks of things, a plan also exists to use more taxpayer money for the Early Childhood Center.

  • A. Call to Order
    •
      1. Roll Call
  •
    B. Early Childhood Center - On Site health Clinic
  •
    C. District Performance Priority
  •
    D. Engaging Stakeholders
  •
    E. Suggestions for New Board Member Orientation
  •
    F. Adjourn

"Engaging stakeholders." How interesting. I don't think the teachers are too impressed with the weekly singling out of one of the staff. Somehow that doesn't make up for years and years of suppressed wages and oppressive admin. I don't think the tax payers are too impressed with the education their children have received. There is a lot of that precious data to show that they have lost ground for the millions invested in "innovative" methods and endless new positions. To make the stakeholders happy, all directors and admin on 32nd will need to resign and go far, far away.
