After the past couple of days, students and teachers have told the Turner Report that the building may have been shortchanged in one area- the heat.
"If the sun is shining brightly," one teacher said, "the room warms up." And that causes another set of problems, since it makes it more difficult for students to see the screens on their laptops.
"Every room in the place is cold," a student said.
Word about the situation is also spreading quickly across the district, thanks to social media.
A grandparent posted this message on Facebook earlier tonight:
Hey, All! Any of my Facebook friends have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins that the big, new Joplin High School? Have any of your kids complained about the heat not being on in the building the past two days? My oldest grandson has come home absolutely freezing the past two days. He also has been complaining about being able to feel a breeze coming in around the windows! Anyone have any info as to why?
If a chilling breeze is coming through the windows of this brand-new building, maybe that would be a good place to stick what's left of that six-and-a-half-mile ribbon.

Not surprised, in May at 5th grade graduation the air conditioning at the brand new Irving Elementary wasn't working.
Lol....the air in Irving has never worked in cafateria (where graduation was held) the cooks have brought fans in. There is also mold in several closet and room. These beautiful schools are poorly built. Sad concidering what they cost.
My son said the building is absolutely freezing!
There is another place, which also continues to grow in size, where that ribbon can be stuck.
If anyone reading this blog thinks this is one or two of "Turner's blog army" making stuff up, fnd any JHS student, and ask him or her. It is true. My son has mentioned it several times.

The kids are always cold. But since they don't have lockers, they can wear their coats to keep them warm.
I have a problem. I was taking my child to school at East Middle School this morning & as soon as you turned on the drive way entrance it is covered with ice. The whole thing, from where the buses go at the front and the car riders in the back. It was clearly obvious that nothing had been done since the snow stopped early yesterday afternoon to prepare the roads & parking lot on the school grounds for safe arrival this morning.
I personally don't mind the extra taxes & money spent on all the new schools BUT for crying out loud at least spend a few more hundred dollars and pay for snow removal!!!
I was so upset with lack of care or concern I called the administration office and asked to speak to Dr. CJ Huff and guess what the receptionist tells me...he didn't show up today but that she would be more than happy to transfer me to his secretary. Needless to say I hung up! What good would it be to leave a message with her! ? So my message could sit on a desk for a day. No thanks! At least if you're not going to be there at your job where your responsible for our children at least have competent people in place & things being taken care of! !
