Dumb idea, personal alarm that alert the office and police would have been better. Unless you practice with these items regularly, the bad guys will take it away from them and use it on them.if you don't use the skills you will loss it.

First problem with this is that batons and Mace/pepper spray (forget which they have) are properly referred to as less-lethal weapons. They can certainly kill, and sufficient case law is developing about pepper spray that it's about to the point where you have to treat it as lethal force, that is something you can only use if you were also justified in using a gun.

Perhaps useful for unruly students, but otherwise Security Theater.
