Jim Evans' message on 9-11 anniversary

(From Democratic Seventh District Congressional Candidate Jim Evans)

As an American, Jim Evans joins his fellow citizens in solemn remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Jim joins with those persons of common conscience and good will here and around the world in dedication to building a world of peace and mutual respect.

As a Veteran, Jim salutes the service and sacrifice of those who answered their country’s call in the wake of that assault on America. He remains committed to pursuing policies of enlightened engagement that put at risk the lives of our military personnel only when prudence dictates and no effective alternative action is available for our collective security.

As a Patriot, Jim said, “In this post-9/11 world we face new challenges and threats but, as a people, we have persevered through many periods of peril. It has been, and will be, our principles, more than our power, that have and will prevail over any adversary and will ‘secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity’.”

As a Candidate, Jim passionately believes that the lives lost on 9/11 and in the subsequent wars and acts of terror are best honored by putting partisan politics aside and joining together, as was done in the days and weeks immediately after that traumatic day, to work for the common good. Restoring that sense of public purpose remains at the heart of his campaign.
