Exercise in futility? Wallace-Bajjali to provide update at special council meeting

The Joplin City Council will hold a special meeting and then adjourn to a work session on Monday, August 11. The meeting will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers, fifth floor of City Hall. The public is welcome to attend, and it will be aired live on KGCS-TV, Missouri Southern State University’s television station.

The Special Meeting for the City Council is being held to officially receive the August 5, 2014 election returns from the County Clerk’s office as prepared by the City Clerk. The Council will then adjourn to the work session.

Agenda for the work session includes an update from Wallace Bajjali Development Partners, discussion on a parcel of the former St. John’s property, and an overview of the process for the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Round II (CDBG-DR) funding for infrastructure projects recently approved by Council. Additional topics include a request for a CDBG-DR Policy and Procedure amendment, and the discussion of the Round II CDBG-DR Partial Action Plan.

KGCS programming airs over the air on digital channel 22 and on regional cable systems including Cable One, Mediacom and Suddenlink.
