C. J. Huff on KZRG: We will not go back to mall high school

C. J. Huff acknowledged for the first time this morning that the new Joplin High School/Franklin Technical Center may not open on August 25 as planned.

During an interview on KZRG's Morning Newswatch, the R-8 superintendent said, "If the building is not safe for our kids and staff we won't be moving in; we can't."

Asked if the mall high school, which has been used for the past three years since Joplin High School was destroyed during the May 22, 2011, tornado, would be used. Huff said, "We're done at the mall. If we miss the mark, it won't be by much."

If Joplin High School is not ready, Huff said, that will not stop the district's elementary and middle schools from starting on August 25.
